Every year in the United States, approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized, including 390,000 dogs and 530,000 cats.
Despite the tireless efforts of shelters and rescue organizations, the number of animals entering shelters continues to outpace the number of adoptions, leading to overcrowded facilities and difficult decisions.
